Viniyoga of Yoga @Tarayoga

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Tuesday Evenings
20.00 – 21.30

Group classes with Tammy give students the opportunity to explore their bodies and minds in a group setting. Thanks to the flexibility of the Viniyoga approach, group classes can be designed to support a variety of needs for the students.

There will be a strong emphasis on integrating of breath and movement using yoga postures (Asana) and breath control. Classes are typically grouped into a series of ten or more, and group workshops can also be arranged to focus on a particular topic for a few hours. Class focuses can include, but are not limited to:

  • A particular aspect of health such as strengthening the back, increasing flexibility or stress reduction,
  • Groups of people who share common goals such as members of a corporate office or runners preparing for a race,
  • People sharing a common situation in life such as suffers of back pain, pregnant women, or new mothers.

If you and a small group are interested in arranging your own Yoga classes tailored to your interests, feel free to contact Tammy directly.

Level III – Explorations in Advanced Asana (January – March 2016) @ Zen Center

Tuesday mornings 9:30 – 11:00

Status: Spaces are still available; walk-ins welcome

This class is a fun but powerful exploration into advanced Asana for experienced practitioners looking to go a bit deeper into some advanced postures that are not often taught in group classes – students and teachers welcome.  Each week, there will be a different focus alternating between different directions of the spine – forward folding, back bending, lateral, twisting, and axial extension.  Each class will begin with a flowing warm up followed by a sequence of postures preparing for the classes main focus and then a cool down and compensation sequence.

Level IV – Advanced Yoga for Everyone @ Praxis Phoenix

Wednesday evenings 19:30 – 21:00

Please contact Tammy to enquire about joining.

This is a class for experienced students of Yoga, but ernest newcomers are welcome to jump in.  This class has been running for several years with many of the original students.  Due to the number of advanced students in the class, students are given more freedom to explore motion with less detailed instruction.  We also explore some more advanced postures (when there is interest), breathing, and inner techniques.  Most classes will integrate Asana, Pranayama, and mediation along with mudra and mantra.

Level I/II Yoga – Yoga for Healing & Self Care (ends December 2015) @ Praxis Phoenix

Status: Spaces are still available; walk-ins welcome

This is a Yoga class for Every Mind & Body interested in using Yoga as a tool for healing and support.  This series of ten classes will focus on developing awareness of our breath and bodies to help build strength, relieve stress, and learn how to use Yoga for Healing and Self-Care. This class is appropriate for all ages and health conditions including pregnancy (anyone with series health concerns, please contact Tammy directly).  Beginners and advanced practitioners will find an open, welcoming space to develop greater attention and awareness using the vast tools of Yoga.

Level III Yoga – this Class is Currently Postponed

Spaces are still available; walk-ins welcome This class is a Level III Asana class with 75 minutes of vigorous movement combined with full, relaxed breathing.  The sequence is based upon the ‘Astangha-Yoga’ sequence taught for so many years by Patabi Joyce, but the sequence is adapted and preformed at a different pace than that traditional style.  Each week will have a slightly different focus for the class, though the heart of the practice will be the same. This is a great oppotunity for those with healthy bodies to build muscle, stamina and flexibility.
